Two San Antonio Officers Shot at West-Side Motel; Suspect Neutralized

Posted on October 15, 2025 by Usainsightreport

Two San Antonio police officers were wounded Wednesday morning during a shooting incident at a motel on the city’s West Side, and the suspect was taken down in the ensuing exchange, authorities say.

The incident unfolded just after 8:30 a.m. in the parking lot of the Travelodge/Ramada Inn, located on the westbound side of U.S. Highway 90 near Military Drive. Responding units found gunfire already underway on arrival. Police Chief William McManus confirmed both officers were struck in the shootout, and that the suspect was shot and is now down.

Initial reports are conflicting about the severity of injuries, but a source close to the investigation believes the officers sustained non–life-threatening wounds. The condition of the suspect is unclear, though several news outlets describe him as dead.

Because of the violence, the access road along Highway 90 westbound in that area has been shut down while law enforcement secures the scene and begins a full-scale investigation. Tactical teams, crime scene units, and police command staff remain on site.

In a Facebook post around 9 a.m., Chief McManus announced “the suspect is down,” but declined further comment until a press briefing scheduled for later today. The motive for the shooting, and whether more suspects may be involved, are still under investigation.

Traffic in the area has been disrupted: the westbound frontage road between Pinn Road and Enrique Barrera Parkway is closed, as is Texas Highway 13 at Military Drive. Officials are urging drivers to use alternate routes like Callaghan Road, Highway 151, or Old Highway 90. The public is also being asked to stay clear of the area while investigators comb through the scene.

As of now, the identities of the wounded officers and the suspect have not been released. The city is on high alert as this becomes the latest in a string of critical officer-involved shootings in San Antonio. More updates are expected soon.
