The afternoon of Friday in Danville took a tragic turn when 46-year-old Michael J. K. Wagle lost his life in a collision at a busy intersection on North Gilbert Street. According to the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office, Wagle was riding his motorcycle southbound when it collided with an eastbound Hyundai Sonata at approximately 3:34 p.m.
Preliminary investigation suggests Wagle entered the intersection after the traffic light turned red and struck the driver’s side of the sedan. The impact threw him off his motorcycle, and both vehicles suffered significant damage.
Emergency crews from the Danville Police Department and local paramedics arrived quickly and provided first aid before transporting Wagle to OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center.
