Chesterfield County man sought in fatal Oct. 4 shooting of young victim

In Chesterfield County, Virginia, a tragic shooting on October 4, 2025, claimed the life of 20-year-old Omarion Bryant of Dinwiddie County. The incident occurred around 11:02 p.m. in the 20900 block of Third Avenue, where police responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon. When officers arrived, they found Bryant suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite emergency efforts, he passed at the scene.

Authorities quickly identified 19-year-old Latrell Keyjuan Creighton, also of Dinwiddie County, as the primary suspect. Creighton has since been charged with second-degree murder in connection with Bryant’s death. According to police, Creighton fled the scene shortly after the shooting and remains at large. Officers describe him as a Black male, about 5 feet 11 inches tall, 165 pounds, with black hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo across the front of his neck. The Chesterfield County Police Department has urged the public not to approach him, warning that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

In addition to Creighton, investigators have arrested two other individuals linked to the case. The first, Jalen Johnson, of Prince George County, was taken into custody and charged with accessory after the fact of homicide. He is being held without bond at the Chesterfield County Jail as the investigation continues.

The second arrest involves Creighton’s father, 39-year-old Cordarious Berry, of Hopewell, Virginia. Berry faces multiple felony charges, including possession of a Schedule I or II controlled substance and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. Authorities allege that Berry may have played a role in helping his son evade capture following the shooting. He is currently being held at the Riverside Regional Jail pending further legal proceedings.

According to the Chesterfield County Police Department, the investigation has revealed that neither Bryant nor Creighton were affiliated with Virginia State University (VSU), despite the shooting’s proximity to the campus area. Police have not yet disclosed a motive but believe that the suspect and victim may have known each other before the confrontation that turned deadly.

In the weeks following the incident, the community of Dinwiddie and Chesterfield has come together to mourn the loss of Omarion Bryant, who was remembered by friends and family for his warmth, loyalty, and “infectious smile.” Loved ones described Bryant as a young man with a bright future, who enjoyed spending time outdoors, riding ATVs, and helping others. His passing has deeply affected his family, who continue to seek justice and closure.

Law enforcement officials continue to actively pursue leads on Latrell Creighton’s whereabouts, following reports that he may have connections to the Hopewell area and even Jackson, Tennessee, where relatives may be assisting him in avoiding arrest. Police have requested that anyone who spots Creighton or knows of his location immediately contact 911 or Crime Solvers and refrain from approaching him directly.

As the case unfolds, detectives are continuing to collect evidence, review surveillance footage, and interview witnesses who may have been present in the Third Avenue area on the night of October 4. Officials are particularly urging residents with home security or dashcam footage to share it with investigators.

The case has sparked strong emotions across the community, prompting discussions about youth violence, the influence of firearms, and the need for ongoing prevention programs. Chesterfield County officials have expressed condolences to Bryant’s family and reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing justice for the young man whose life was cut short.

As of now, Latrell Keyjuan Creighton remains on the run, and authorities are continuing an intensive multi-state search. The Chesterfield County Police Department encourages anyone with information about the suspect to come forward, emphasizing that community cooperation is crucial to bringing closure to the Bryant family and ensuring public safety.

The death of Omarion Bryant has left a lasting mark on both Dinwiddie and Chesterfield County, serving as a somber reminder of the devastating impact of gun violence. Community members have held vigils and memorial services to honor Bryant’s memory, vowing not to let his life be forgotten as police continue their pursuit of justice.
