Four-vehicle crash in San Angelo claims life of Grape Creek woman

SAN ANGELO, Texas — A devastating four-vehicle collision in Tom Green County has claimed the life of 56-year-old Tracy Danielle Daigle of Grape Creek. The crash occurred on Tuesday morning, November 4, 2025, near the intersection of U.S. Highway 87 and March Road, just north of San Angelo. Authorities from the Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) responded to the call around 7:57 a.m., following multiple reports of a serious multi-vehicle accident that left one person dead and several others injured.

According to preliminary findings released by TxDPS Troopers, the incident began when a 2021 Ford F-250, driven by 43-year-old Joshua Hernandez of San Angelo, was traveling north on U.S. Highway 87. For reasons still under investigation, Hernandez’s truck struck the rear of a 2018 Toyota Corolla, driven by 56-year-old Tracy Danielle Daigle. The impact caused Daigle’s vehicle to spin into oncoming southbound traffic, where it collided with a 2020 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by 39-year-old Elizabeth Moore of Ballinger. Following that impact, debris and momentum led to a secondary collision involving a 2019 Nissan Frontier, driven by 47-year-old Raymond Ortiz of San Angelo, who was unable to avoid the crash scene.

Tracy Danielle Daigle sustained critical injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by Justice of the Peace Jody Young. Authorities confirmed that she was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the accident. The Texas Department of Public Safety expressed that no signs of impairment were found, and weather conditions were clear and dry that morning.

Elizabeth Moore, the driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe, was transported to Shannon Medical Center in San Angelo with non-life-threatening injuries. Raymond Ortiz, the Nissan driver, was treated at the scene for minor injuries and released shortly after. Joshua Hernandez, the Ford driver, was uninjured but remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators.

Traffic along U.S. Highway 87 was shut down for several hours as emergency crews, including the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department, and TxDOT, worked to clear debris and reconstruct the crash. The highway reopened later in the afternoon once investigators completed their preliminary assessment.

Tracy Danielle Daigle was a longtime resident of Grape Creek, where she was well known for her kindness and strong community involvement. Friends describe her as a caring mother, devoted grandmother, and a compassionate neighbor always ready to lend a hand. She was actively involved in local church activities and often volunteered at school events and community fundraisers. Her passing has deeply impacted the small Grape Creek community, where neighbors have begun placing flowers and candles near the crash site as a tribute to her memory.

A statement released by Daigle’s family expressed their heartbreak and gratitude for the outpouring of community support. “Tracy was the heart of our family,” the statement read. “She lived her life with love, faith, and generosity. We ask for prayers and privacy as we come to terms with this loss.”

Funeral arrangements for Tracy Danielle Daigle are being handled by Shaffer Funeral Home in San Angelo. Services will include a public visitation followed by a private family burial. Details are expected to be announced later this week.

The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the crash, focusing on the sequence of impacts and whether distracted driving or excessive speed contributed to the initial collision. At this time, no charges have been filed, but investigators emphasized that their report remains open pending review of vehicle data and witness statements.

This tragic accident serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers of highway travel and the importance of maintaining awareness, especially on busy multi-lane roads like U.S. Highway 87, where high speeds and heavy traffic can quickly turn dangerous.

As the investigation continues, the people of Tom Green County and Grape Creek are united in grief, remembering Tracy Danielle Daigle as a woman of warmth, strength, and faith — someone whose presence made her community a better place. Her memory will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
