Suspect Arrested After Double Homicide at Shelby Township Auto Shop

The incident occurred in Shelby Township, Michigan, specifically at Star Auto Sales on Ryan Road near Auburn Road. Police were called to the business just after 12:28 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, following a report of a welfare check.

When officers arrived, they discovered the bodies of two men inside the auto shop. The first victim was a 48-year-old man from Clinton Township, and the second victim was a 40-year-old man from Shelby Township. Both men were pronounced deceased at the scene. The case is being investigated as a double homicide, sending shockwaves through the normally quiet community.

Detectives spent hours processing the crime scene and collecting evidence. A witness reported seeing a man dressed entirely in black and wearing a white surgical mask near the shop before the discovery. The area was quickly cordoned off as investigators arrived, and nearby businesses were briefly shut down.

By late Friday evening, police had gathered crucial leads that led them to a hotel near Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Romulus. In the early hours of Saturday morning, officers executed a search warrant at the hotel, where they located and arrested a suspect without incident. Evidence connected to the case was also recovered from the hotel room. Authorities confirmed that the arrested individual is believed to have direct involvement in the events at the auto shop.

Although the suspect’s name has not yet been released, police have confirmed that the person is now in custody and awaiting formal arraignment. Detectives emphasized that the arrest marks a major step forward in the investigation but noted that the case is still ongoing, with further inquiries continuing into motive and potential accomplices.

The crime scene itself showed clear signs of violence. Investigators spent much of Friday night collecting ballistic evidence, securing surveillance footage, and interviewing nearby witnesses. Businesses along Ryan Road reported seeing a heavy police presence, including tactical units, forensic teams, and emergency responders. One employee at a nearby restaurant described the sight of “dozens of officers with shields entering the area” as news of the tragedy spread.

Police said the victims’ families have been notified, but their names will not be released publicly until formal identification is complete. The two men were described by friends as hard-working and well-liked in the local automotive community. Regular customers at Star Auto Sales expressed heartbreak, calling the men “honest and kind” and saying the shop had been a neighborhood fixture for years.

Shelby Township Police detectives are working closely with multiple agencies, including the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office, Romulus Police, and the Michigan State Police Forensic Division. They continue to analyze surveillance footage and digital data, including phone records and vehicle tracking information.

Authorities are asking anyone who was in the area of Ryan and Auburn Roads between 11:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on Friday to contact the police with any information or footage that may assist the investigation.

For residents, the tragedy has brought a deep sense of sadness and concern. Many expressed shock that such an act could take place in a community known for its safety and family-oriented environment.

In summary, the events in Shelby Township began with the discovery of two deceased men at Star Auto Sales and quickly developed into a region-wide investigation. Through efficient coordination and rapid action, police tracked the suspect to a hotel near Detroit Metro Airport, where an arrest was made. The motive remains under investigation, and officers have promised to pursue every lead to bring justice to the victims and their families.
