“Kind-Hearted Texas Rider, 76, Dies After Crash That Threw Her From Motorcycle on I-12”

Posted on November 11, 2025 by Usainsightreport

In the quiet afternoon of Monday, November 10, 2025, a tragic accident on eastbound Interstate 12 in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana, claimed the life of 76-year-old June Volkman of Texas, a vibrant woman known for her kindness, love of adventure and open-road spirit.

According to the Louisiana State Police, the crash occurred around 3:00 p.m. when a Harley-Davidson motorcycle travelling eastbound on I-12 was struck from behind by a Volkswagen. The force of the collision was severe enough to eject both the driver and passenger from the motorcycle. Both riders were wearing DOT-approved helmets, yet the passenger—June—sustained catastrophic injuries and later died at the hospital.

Investigators report that the Volkswagen driver was cited for following too closely, while the motorcycle’s driver—though hospitalized with moderate injuries—survived and is expected to recover. The case is still under review and will be forwarded to the 21st Judicial District Attorney’s office for potential further action.

Those who knew June describe her as more than a passenger on a motorcycle: she was a soul who embraced family, friendship and the freedom of two-wheel trips. “June was full of life. She loved her family, loved to ride, and loved the freedom of the open road,” a relative said. Though her beloved journey ended far sooner than anyone expected, her warmth and adventurousness live on in memories.

As news of her passing spread, messages of condolences arrived thick and fast—from both Louisiana and Texas. Fellow riders, neighbors and friends shared tributes reflecting on her generous heart and the fragility of life on the road. Many used this moment to remind drivers of the vital importance of sharing the road—especially with motorcyclists, whose lives can change in a single moment of distraction.

The Louisiana State Police echoed this sobering message: maintain safe distances, stay alert, and remember that even a brief lapse behind the wheel can have irreversible consequences. In memory of June, the call to responsibility resonates.

Though June’s journey ended unexpectedly, her legacy remains in the laughter she shared, the open roads she embraced and the love she gave freely. Her family now holds fast to those memories—finding comfort in the kindness she showed and the life she lived fully, however short.
