Posted on May 11, 2025 by Usainsightreport

A Jamestown woman, 55-year-old Deborah E. Jespersen, has been arrested on serious charges involving child abuse and unauthorized childcare operations. The arrest follows an investigation initiated after a 6-month-old child suffered a spiral fracture of the arm while under Jespersen’s care .

Investigation and Arrest

On April 29, 2025, Jamestown Police received reports of a 6-month-old infant sustaining a spiral fracture of the arm while in the care of an unlicensed childcare provider. Following an 11-day investigation, authorities executed a search warrant at Jespersen’s residence on May 9, seizing evidence related to the alleged crimes .

Charges

Jespersen faces a Class A felony charge of child abuse involving a victim under 6 years old and a Class B misdemeanor for providing early childhood services after her license had been revoked . She is currently held at the Stutsman County Correctional Center pending formal charges from the Stutsman County State’s Attorney .(

Community Impact and Legal Implications

This case underscores the importance of stringent regulations and oversight in early childhood care. Operating without a valid license not only violates state laws but also endangers the well-being of children. The community relies on licensed providers to ensure safe and nurturing environments for their children.

Ongoing Legal Proceedings

As the legal process unfolds, Jespersen’s case will be closely monitored by both legal authorities and the community. The charges she faces carry significant legal consequences, reflecting the severity of the allegations.
