Posted on May 12, 2025 by Usainsightreport

The Florence County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) is actively investigating three separate shootings that occurred over the weekend, leaving multiple victims and a series of unsettling events in the community. The incidents, which took place at different locations in Florence, South Carolina, have raised concerns about public safety, with law enforcement working tirelessly to piece together the details and bring those responsible to justice.

Shooting at the Red Circle Lounge

The first shooting took place at the Red Circle Lounge, a well-known establishment in the Florence area. Early reports indicate that the incident occurred after an altercation inside the lounge, though the specifics remain unclear. One victim was critically injured and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Law enforcement has yet to confirm the identity of the victim, but they have stated that the individual’s condition is being closely monitored. Authorities have not made any arrests in connection with the shooting, though they are continuing their investigation into the incident, seeking out witnesses and reviewing any available surveillance footage to determine the circumstances leading to the violent event.

Second Shooting at 3027 East Palmetto Street

In the early hours of the same weekend, another shooting occurred at 3027 East Palmetto Street, further intensifying the urgency of the ongoing investigations. Officers responded to reports of shots fired and found one victim outside the property, near the door. Upon entering the premises, authorities discovered a total of six other individuals inside, all of whom appeared to have been injured in some way. Tragically, one of the victims, 39-year-old Melvin Anthony Gibson, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The remaining victims were transported to the hospital for treatment, but their conditions remain unclear.

The FCSO has expressed concern over the apparent violence at this location and is currently working to understand the motive behind the shooting. Authorities have not released details about potential suspects but are urging the public to come forward with any information that may assist with the investigation. The department is actively canvassing the neighborhood and reviewing any potential connections between the victims and suspects.

Third Shooting at the Cook-Out on South Irby Street

The third shooting, which added to the chaos of the weekend, took place at the Cook-Out fast food restaurant located at 2007 South Irby Street. FCSO officials reported that 24-year-old Daquan Markel Brown entered the restaurant carrying a rifle and opened fire on an employee, 17-year-old Eugene Travis McClease Jr. The situation quickly escalated when McClease, who was also armed, returned fire at Brown. The exchange of gunfire resulted in both individuals being injured. Authorities confirmed that Brown attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended by officers shortly thereafter.

Both Brown and McClease were taken into custody, and charges are expected to follow. Law enforcement officials are still working to understand the motivation behind the shooting, as both men are believed to have had some sort of altercation prior to the incident. McClease, though injured, is expected to survive his wounds. The FCSO has not yet released detailed information about the nature of the altercation that led to the gunfire.

Community Impact and Ongoing Investigation

The three shootings have sent shockwaves through the Florence community, as residents try to process the violence that has erupted in their neighborhoods. While the FCSO has made some progress in its investigation, including arrests in the third shooting, the department is still seeking answers in the first two cases. As of now, law enforcement is urging anyone with information to come forward, as they believe there may be additional witnesses or evidence that could provide valuable insights into the events that unfolded.

The community has expressed concerns about safety, with some residents questioning the recent uptick in violent crime. In response, the FCSO has promised to continue its efforts to address these violent incidents and work toward keeping the public safe. Additionally, local officials are holding discussions with community leaders to explore ways to prevent further violence and improve safety in the area.

Florence County remains on edge as investigators work tirelessly to piece together the events of the weekend, and many are hopeful that the perpetrators behind these shootings will be brought to justice. The FCSO has assured the public that they are committed to finding answers and keeping the community safe in the wake of this disturbing series of incidents.
