Posted on May 22, 2025 by Usainsightreport

On Thursday, May 22, 2025, McAllen police identified 40-year-old Dionicio Luna Aguirre as the driver responsible for a fatal crash that occurred on May 17, resulting in the deaths of two individuals. Aguirre has been charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter and is currently held on a $600,000 bond.

The tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of May 17 at the intersection of North 2nd Street and Nolana Avenue in McAllen. According to authorities, Aguirre was driving a Chevrolet Silverado when he collided with a Nissan Altima. The crash claimed the lives of 54-year-old Juan Carlos Perez, the driver of the Altima, and 20-year-old Gianncarlo Corriabustos, a passenger in the Silverado.

Following the collision, Aguirre sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Investigators suspect that intoxication played a significant role in the crash, and Aguirre was arraigned on the aforementioned charges upon his release from medical care.

The McAllen Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. Authorities are reviewing evidence and conducting interviews to determine the exact sequence of events leading up to the crash. The community has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of life and is calling for increased awareness and preventive measures against impaired driving.

As the legal proceedings advance, the families of the victims and the McAllen community seek justice and hope that this tragedy serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence.
