SUSPECT IDENTIFIED IN STRING OF BURGLARIES IN NORTHWEST COUNTY

Posted on May 23, 2025 by Usainsightreport

Garner was detained earlier today by the Florence County Sheriff’s Office after being discovered in possession of a stolen vehicle. According to investigators, a routine check of the vehicle’s contents through the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) yielded a direct connection to multiple burglaries reported in the Carter Crossroads and Williams Hill communities between May 19 and May 22, 2025.

Each of the three reported burglaries followed a similar pattern. The suspect forcibly entered the homes by kicking in doors, gaining access while the occupants were away. Once inside, the intruder stole a range of valuable items, including firearms, flat-screen televisions, personal jewelry, and a computer. The bold nature of the break-ins and the high-value items stolen led investigators to believe the incidents were connected from the start.

Thanks to coordinated efforts between Lee County and Florence County law enforcement agencies, key evidence found inside the stolen vehicle—reportedly including some of the stolen electronics and jewelry—helped link Garner directly to the crimes. Sheriff Weaver commended the rapid information sharing and teamwork that led to the breakthrough in the case.

“We’re grateful for the swift action and collaboration between our deputies and the Florence County Sheriff’s Office,” said Sheriff Weaver. “These burglaries caused a great deal of concern for the families affected and the surrounding neighborhoods. With Mr. Garner now in custody, we’re hopeful this brings some peace of mind back to our community.”

Marcus Montrell Garner is currently being held at the Florence County Detention Center pending further investigation and formal charges. The Lee County Sheriff’s Office stated that more details will be released as the case proceeds, and additional charges may follow if further stolen property is recovered.

Investigators are continuing their work to determine whether Garner acted alone or was part of a larger operation. Community members are encouraged to report any suspicious activity or provide information that might assist in the ongoing investigation.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office also reminded residents to remain vigilant, secure their homes, and utilize security systems when possible to deter criminal activity. Sheriff Weaver emphasized that community involvement is a crucial element in keeping neighborhoods safe.
