Priyanka Chopra Reacts to Mass Shooting at Kashmir Resort that Killed at Least 26: ‘Haunt Us For a Long Time’

Posted on April 23, 2025 by Usainsightreport

Priyanka Chopra is sharing her heartbreak after the mass shooting that killed at least two dozen people, many of them tourists, at a resort in Kashmir, India, on Tuesday, April 22, which authorities described as a terrorist attack.

On Wednesday, April 23, the Citadel actress, 42, shared an Instagram post that expressed outrage after the tragedy.

“What happened in Pahalgam is reprehensible,” she wrote in the post captioned #PalhalgamAttack. “People were there on vacations, honeymoons, celebrating with their families. Just taking in the beauty of Kashmir. So many innocent lives were caught in a storm they never asked for. Targeted, right in front of their loved ones.”

She continued, “This is not a tragedy we can move past from. This heinous attack should shake the conscience of humanity. This will haunt us for a long time.”

“To those grieving, displaced, mourning, and living in fear, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I’m so deeply anguished by this,” Chopra concluded.

Four men, described by authorities as militants fighting Indian rule, opened fire at close range at dozens of tourists in a meadow in Baisaran, near the town of Pahalgam, according to The New York Times .

At least 26 people died in the shooting and several others were wounded, CNN reported, citing authorities.

Most of the tourists who were shot or injured — some critically — were Indian, authorities said, per the Associated Press and ABC 7.

“This attack is much larger than anything we’ve seen directed at civilians in recent years,” Omar Abdullah, the region’s leader, wrote on social media.

No arrests have been made and the attack remains under investigation by authorities.

“Those behind this heinous act will be brought to justice…they will not be spared,” India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote in part, on social media. “Their evil agenda will never succeed. Our resolve to fight terrorism is unshakable and it will get even stronger.”
