Tragic Shooting Claims Life of Greenwood High Graduate Lakeria Fisher; Community Mourns Loss

Greenwood, SC — The Greenwood community is in mourning following the tragic death of Lakeria Fisher, a vibrant 2024 graduate of Greenwood High School, who was fatally shot on the evening of Sunday, June 1, 2025. Authorities responded to a shooting in Greenwood on Sunday, and upon arrival, discovered Fisher had suffered fatal gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fisher, known for her bright smile and active involvement in school activities, had recently graduated and was looking forward to starting college in the fall. Her untimely death has left family, friends, and the entire Greenwood community in shock and grief.

The Greenwood Police Department has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. As of now, no arrests have been made, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Detectives are working diligently to piece together the events that led to this senseless act of violence.

Community members have expressed their sorrow and support for Fisher’s family through candlelight vigils and social media tributes. Local leaders are calling for unity and increased efforts to address gun violence in the area.
