Harris County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Suspicious Death After Woman Found Deceased in Northwest Harris County Home

Harris County, TX — June 21, 2025 — The Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has launched an active investigation after a woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a residential neighborhood on the county’s northwest side.

Deputies were dispatched to a home in the 11700 block of Hillbrook Drive, located near Jones Road and Highway 249, after receiving a call for a welfare check on Saturday. The call came from a concerned party who had been unable to contact the woman and feared something may be wrong.

Upon arriving at the scene, deputies made entry into the residence and discovered an adult female deceased inside the home. While few details have been publicly released, initial indicators led investigators to suspect foul play in the woman’s death.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed the tragic discovery via social media on Saturday afternoon, writing, “An adult female has been found deceased at the residence. Foul play is suspected. I’m enroute to the scene.”

Crime scene investigators and homicide detectives with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are now processing the scene, working to gather evidence, determine the cause of death, and piece together the circumstances that led to the woman’s demise. The woman’s identity has not yet been released, pending official confirmation by the medical examiner’s office and notification of next of kin.

As investigators continue to examine the interior and exterior of the home, the quiet residential block has been cordoned off with crime scene tape. Neighbors have described the scene as “unnerving,” saying the woman was generally quiet and kept to herself.

“We didn’t hear anything unusual, but when we saw all the sheriff’s vehicles this morning, we knew something terrible must’ve happened,” said one neighbor who asked not to be named.

Detectives are canvassing the neighborhood for surveillance footage or witnesses who may have seen or heard anything unusual in the hours or days leading up to the discovery. HCSO has not yet identified any suspects or persons of interest and is urging anyone with information to come forward.

The investigation is still in its early stages, and officials are withholding further details while they work to establish the facts surrounding the woman’s death. An autopsy will be conducted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

This developing case has rattled the normally peaceful neighborhood, and law enforcement officials say they are committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice is served.

Anyone with information related to the case is encouraged to contact the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Unit at (713) 274-9100 or call Crime Stoppers of Houston anonymously at (713) 222-TIPS (8477).

Updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Sheriff Gonzalez is expected to brief the media from the scene later today.
