Remembering Jodi Kay Holsinger: A Life of Care, Compassion, and Love

MARION, OH — With heavy hearts, the community mourns the unexpected passing of Jodi Kay Holsinger, who died on June 24, 2025, at the age of 64. A beloved mother, nurse, and friend, Jodi leaves behind a legacy of compassion, strength, and unwavering service to others.

Born and raised with deep roots in Ohio, Jodi built her life around the values of empathy, dedication, and care. She spent many years working as a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) registered nurse in Utah, where she became a vital presence in the lives of countless families. Through long, demanding shifts and fragile moments, Jodi’s calming touch and skilled hands brought comfort and hope to parents facing their most vulnerable days. Colleagues and families alike remember her for her gentle spirit, sharp mind, and tireless devotion to the tiniest of patients.

Though much of her professional life was spent in Utah, Marion, Ohio remained close to Jodi’s heart — a place where family ties and memories ran deep. She often spoke of her desire to one day return and rest among her loved ones at Grand Prairie Cemetery, where generations of her family now rest. It was this wish that her daughter, Sariah, is now working to honor during this painful time of loss.

A Mother, A Healer, A Legacy of Love

To her daughter Sariah, Jodi was more than a caregiver — she was a best friend, a mentor, a lighthouse in the storm. Their bond was one of love and mutual respect, built on shared laughter, deep talks, and quiet moments of understanding.

“She gave everything she had to others,” Sariah shared. “From newborn babies in the NICU to people she barely knew — my mother lived to help, to heal. Now, I want to help her find peace, in the place she always called home.”

In addition to her nursing work, Jodi was an active listener, a thoughtful neighbor, and someone who made time for others, even when her own burdens were heavy. She enjoyed nature, classical music, reading, and spending time with her daughter. She carried herself with humility, never seeking the spotlight but always ready to lend a hand.

Community Support and a Call to Action

In the wake of Jodi’s passing, the community of Marion and beyond has come together in heartfelt support. A fundraiser has been launched by Monica Holsinger to help cover funeral and burial expenses, ensuring that Jodi can be laid to rest in the Grand Prairie Cemetery, as she wished.

The fundraiser aims to relieve the financial strain on the family and provide a space for friends, patients, and co-workers to give back to someone who gave so much of herself.

💬 “Jodi was the kind of person who would drop everything to help someone in need. Now, it’s our turn to do the same for her,” Monica wrote in the campaign’s launch.

Those who knew Jodi — whether through her work in the NICU, her presence in the Marion community, or the warmth of her friendship — are invited to share memories, donate, or simply keep the family in their thoughts during this deeply emotional time.

Final Arrangements and Tribute

Plans for a memorial service are currently underway, with details to be announced by the Holsinger family in the coming days. The service will celebrate not only Jodi’s career as a healer but her role as a devoted mother, a cherished friend, and a quiet hero in everyday life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the fundraiser or to neonatal care foundations, in Jodi’s memory — a fitting tribute to the work she loved so deeply.

As Marion says goodbye to one of its own, the legacy of Jodi Kay Holsinger will continue to ripple outward — through the lives she touched, the infants she helped save, and the love she gave so freely.

May she rest in peace, surrounded by the echoes of gratitude from all who had the honor of knowing her.
