Shooting Incident on Marginal Street – Multiple Arrests Made

Port Gibson, Mississippi – The Port Gibson Police Department is actively investigating a shooting that took place Wednesday evening on Marginal Street, resulting in a 15-year-old female being injured. The disturbing incident has shaken the community and prompted swift action by law enforcement. officers identified and arrested Byron January, age 15, as the primary suspect in the shooting.

Upon responding to the scene and conducting a comprehensive investigation Due to the severity of the offense, January has been charged as an adult with Aggravated Assault. He was arraigned before Honorable Judge Mareesha Odom, who set bond at $50,000. January remains in custody pending further court proceedings.

The investigation also revealed involvement by three other individuals:

  • Or’Javion Hill, 17, and Or’Darion Hill, 17, were both charged with Accessory After the Fact.
  • Jamarion Mallett, 18, has been charged with Discharging a Firearm Within City Limits.

Port Gibson Police Chief Russell Dorsey issued a firm statement regarding the department’s stance:

“We take incidents like this very seriously, and we are committed to ensuring justice is served. If there are any plans of retaliation or further violence, I want to make it clear that every individual involved will be held accountable. We will continue to work tirelessly to maintain peace and protect our community. My prayers are with everyone involved in this incident.”

The injured teen is receiving medical care, and her condition is being closely monitored. The community is urged to come together and stand against further violence.
