Stafford Man Arrested After Road Rage Incident Leads to Intentional Ramming

STAFFORD COUNTY, Va. (June 27, 2025) — A case of road rage escalated into a deliberate act of violence Thursday night, when a 49-year-old Stafford man was arrested after intentionally ramming another vehicle during a confrontation in North Stafford.

According to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on June 26 at approximately 9:20 p.m., near the busy intersection of Garrisonville Road and Stafford Market Place. What initially appeared to be a routine auto accident quickly revealed far more troubling details.

Deputies who responded to the crash determined that the incident was no accident. After interviewing witnesses and reviewing the scene, investigators learned that the suspect, identified as Jason Nance, became enraged when another vehicle attempted to merge into his lane.

Instead of de-escalating or allowing traffic to continue smoothly, Nance allegedly waited for the vehicle to come to a stop in traffic, then intentionally accelerated and rammed into it, causing more than $1,000 in property damage. Fortunately, no physical injuries were reported at the time of the incident, but the emotional and financial toll remains significant for the victim.

Nance was promptly arrested at the scene and charged with assault and battery as well as vandalism. He was transported to the Rappahannock Regional Jail, where he was held on a $1,000 bond.

“This type of behavior is completely unacceptable and incredibly dangerous,” a Sheriff’s Office spokesperson stated. “Road rage incidents can escalate quickly, and in this case, it could have resulted in serious injury or worse. We urge all drivers to remain calm and allow law enforcement to handle disputes safely.”

The incident has sparked renewed discussion about aggressive driving and road rage in the region. With increasingly congested roads and rising driver frustration, law enforcement agencies are reminding the public to exercise patience, caution, and restraint while behind the wheel.

Authorities are continuing their investigation and encourage any additional witnesses to come forward. If you have information related to the case, please contact the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.

As the summer travel season ramps up, officials stress the importance of staying safe on the road and keeping tempers in check—before frustration leads to dangerous consequences.
