Posted on July 1, 2025 by Usainsightreport

Rowlett, TX — On the evening of June 30, 2025, a swift and coordinated response by multiple law enforcement agencies led to the arrest of Cornelius Jacques Robinson, the suspect in a shooting that occurred in the 4000 block of Coyle Street in Rowlett.

At approximately 8:40 PM, officers with the Rowlett Police Department responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they located a male victim who had been shot following a verbal altercation with an unknown individual. The suspect, later identified as Robinson, fled the scene on foot.

Before being transported to the hospital, the victim — a Rowlett resident — was able to provide officers with vital information about the suspect. The victim underwent surgery and is currently reported to be in stable condition.

Recognizing the threat posed by an armed suspect, Rowlett Police immediately engaged neighboring law enforcement agencies. The Garland Police Department, Mesquite Police Department, and DART Police Department joined the search effort. Utilizing tracking dogs, the Mesquite K9 Unit located Cornelius Jacques Robinson near Main Street, where he was taken into custody without incident.

During the arrest, two firearms were recovered. Investigators believe one of the weapons was used in the shooting.

Robinson has been formally charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second-degree felony. His bond has been set at $50,000, and he remains in custody pending further court proceedings.

Rowlett Police praised the interagency collaboration that led to Robinson’s swift apprehension. “Thanks to the coordinated efforts and professionalism of all involved, a dangerous suspect is off the streets,” said a department spokesperson.

The investigation into the incident remains active. Authorities are reviewing evidence and witness statements to determine if additional charges are warranted.

Anyone with further information is encouraged to contact the Rowlett Police Department at (972) 412-6200.
