Posted on July 2, 2025 by Usainsightreport

Niagara Falls, NY, July 2, 2025 – The Niagara Falls Police Department has identified both the victim and suspect in a fatal stabbing that occurred late Monday night on Main Street. Following an intensive investigation, detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) and Crime Scene Unit (CSU) arrested 53-year-old Arthur Hicks, who now faces a charge of second-degree murder in the killing of 34-year-old Thomas Harris.

Police were called to the 1700 block of Main Street around 11:45 p.m. on June 30, where they discovered Harris bleeding and unresponsive in the roadway. Investigators say Harris had sustained multiple stab wounds during an apparent assault. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by Niagara Falls Fire Department and AMR, Harris was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities worked swiftly overnight to identify the suspect. By approximately 12:30 p.m. on July 1, officers located Arthur Hicks inside a tent in a wooded area between the 1000 block of North Avenue and the railroad tracks. Hicks, a Niagara Falls resident, was taken into custody without incident and is expected to be arraigned today in Niagara Falls City Court.

Investigation Ongoing

Police have not released a motive for the stabbing or said whether Hicks and Harris knew each other prior to the incident. The case remains active as detectives continue to gather information, review area surveillance footage, and interview witnesses.

“This remains an active investigation,” a Niagara Falls Police Department spokesperson said. “We are urging anyone with information to step forward and help us bring complete justice to this case.”

Anyone with knowledge related to the incident is asked to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at 716-286-4553.

Community Reactions

The violent death of Thomas Harris has left many in the Niagara Falls community shaken. Friends and residents who knew Harris described him as quiet and respectful, and his sudden death has sparked concern over safety on Main Street.

“It’s shocking,” said one local business owner. “You never expect something this tragic to happen so close to home. We’re heartbroken for Thomas’s family.”

Authorities are continuing to investigate the timeline and circumstances that led to the deadly altercation. As the legal process moves forward, the arrest of Arthur Hicks marks an important step in seeking justice for Thomas Harris.
