Chase Cotton and Kimberly Langley Arrested in Concow Assault and Burglary Investigation

Posted on July 2, 2025 by Usainsightreport

July 2, 2025 – Concow, CA – The Butte County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) has announced the arrest of two Oroville residents, Chase Cotton (36) and Kimberly Langley (45), following a violent altercation and burglary that occurred in the rural community of Concow on June 26, 2025. Both suspects are now facing multiple felony charges after an investigation that involved a rapid law enforcement response, aerial search operations, and eventual apprehension in Oroville.

Distress Call Leads to Rapid Response

At approximately 5:47 p.m. on June 26, BCSO deputies were dispatched to a residence on Hog Ranch Road in response to a 9-1-1 call reporting a physical assault. Deputies arrived on scene and performed a protective sweep of the property to ensure no ongoing threats were present. They then made contact with the victim, who provided a detailed account of the incident.

According to the victim, Chase Cotton and Kimberly Langley arrived at the residence in a white Ford truck. Shortly thereafter, a physical confrontation allegedly ensued, during which the suspects reportedly assaulted the victim and forcibly took an item from their possession.

Deputies also discovered that an item had been taken from a shed on the property, further escalating the severity of the situation.

Search Effort and Escape

Cotton and Langley fled the scene before law enforcement arrived, prompting an extensive two-hour search by deputies. The operation included the use of both a helicopter and an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV/drone) to cover the rugged terrain surrounding the property.

Despite the resources deployed, deputies were unable to locate the suspects that evening. However, sufficient evidence was collected at the scene to support the issuance of felony arrest warrants for both individuals.

Apprehension in Oroville

Two days later, on June 28, 2025, deputies from BCSO, along with assistance from a member of the Special Enforcement Unit (SEU), successfully located and arrested Cotton and Langley in the city of Oroville.

Both suspects were taken into custody without further incident and booked into the Butte County Jail on a series of serious charges.

Charges Filed

Chase Cotton faces the following charges:

  • Felony Burglary
  • Felony Robbery
  • Battery
  • Damaging/Destroying a Wireless Communication Device

Kimberly Langley is charged with:

  • Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon
  • Felony Robbery
  • Damaging/Destroying a Wireless Communication Device

BCSO has not yet disclosed details about the relationship between the suspects and the victim, or what items were taken during the incident. However, the sheriff’s office has emphasized that the investigation remains active, and further charges may be considered as more evidence is reviewed.

Community Reactions and Law Enforcement Statement

The arrests have drawn attention in the Concow and Oroville communities, where residents have expressed concern about violence and theft in rural areas. The Sheriff’s Office credited the coordinated effort between patrol deputies, special enforcement personnel, and aerial support for the quick identification and arrest of the suspects.

“This case demonstrates our commitment to rapid response and thorough investigation,” a BCSO spokesperson said. “We will continue to pursue those who commit violent crimes in our community.”

Ongoing Investigation

Anyone with additional information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Butte County Sheriff’s Office. As of this report, both Cotton and Langley remain in custody, pending court proceedings.
