KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Second Victim Ronnie Hardman Dies in Ongoing Homicide Investigation Following June 14 Shooting at 35th and Prospect

The Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) has confirmed that Ronnie Hardman, a 44-year-old victim wounded in the June 14, 2025, shooting at 35th Street and Prospect Avenue, has tragically succumbed to his injuries. His death marks the second fatality from the violent incident that rocked the community just over two weeks ago.

On the night of the shooting, officers were dispatched to the area following reports of multiple gunshots. When police arrived, they discovered a grim scene: one person was already deceased, and multiple victims, including Ronnie Hardman, had sustained serious injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals.

Despite the efforts of medical teams, Ronnie Hardman passed away on June 30, according to investigators who were notified by hospital staff. Hardman, born September 5, 1980, had been in critical condition since the night of the shooting.

KCPD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the violence, including identifying those responsible and understanding what led to the shooting. Authorities have not yet announced any arrests or named suspects but are following up on leads.

“This case has turned even more tragic with the loss of Mr. Hardman,” said a KCPD spokesperson. “Our detectives are committed to uncovering the truth and ensuring justice is served. We extend our deepest condolences to Ronnie’s family and loved ones.”

The June 14 shooting happened in a high-traffic corridor of East Kansas City, prompting renewed concern over rising gun violence in the area. In the aftermath, community leaders have called for collective action, peace, and support for ongoing investigations.

Police are asking anyone who may have been in the area or has surveillance footage from June 14 between 9:00 p.m. and midnight to come forward. Detectives believe that tips from the public could help break the case open.
