Tragic Loss in Dover Township: 1-Year-Old Blakely Blosser Killed in Dog Attack

Posted on July 9, 2025 by Usainsightreport

Dover Township, Ohio — July 2, 2025 -In an unthinkable tragedy that has shaken a small Ohio community, 1-year-old Blakely Blosser was fatally attacked by the family’s pit bull on July 2, 2025, in Dover Township, Tuscarawas County. According to Sheriff Orvis Campbell, deputies responded to an emergency call at a residence on Lake Road just before 6 p.m. following reports of a dog attack.

In the initial 911 call, dispatchers were unable to hear anyone on the line. Moments later, a second call came through in which a distraught mother heartbreakingly informed dispatchers that their family dog had killed her baby. When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Blakely with severe injuries, including bite wounds to her face and throat. Despite immediate efforts, there was nothing responders could do to save her life.

Blakely’s sudden and tragic death has left the community in profound mourning. Family members, friends, and neighbors are struggling to comprehend how such a horrific event could take place in the safety of a home. The family has identified the victim as Blakely Blosser, a joyful and spirited little girl who was just beginning to explore the world around her.

In a touching tribute shared in her obituary, loved ones described her as a bright light whose spirit radiated especially when she was playing with her older brother:

“Her joyful essence shone brightest when she was playing with her brother. Their bond was pure and filled with laughter, offering moments of joy that will forever reverberate in the hearts of our family.”

Blakely’s bond with her brother was one of deep connection and innocence—a sibling love that now serves as both a treasured memory and a painful reminder of the fragility of life.

The family dog, reportedly a pit bull that had been in the household, was removed from the home following the incident. The Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack. At this time, no charges have been filed, but authorities have indicated that they are reviewing the case thoroughly to determine what, if any, further steps may be taken.

The loss of Blakely Blosser has cast a long shadow over the community, sparking conversations about pet safety, child supervision, and the unpredictable nature of certain dog behaviors. But above all, this is a story of unimaginable heartbreak for a family who has lost their precious baby girl.

As the community rallies around the grieving family, many have asked how they can help. Vigils, donations, and acts of kindness have begun pouring in. A memorial service for Blakely is being planned, and support resources are being made available for those affected by the emotional toll of this tragedy.

Rest in peace, sweet Blakely. Your laughter, light, and innocence will never be forgotten. You were deeply loved, and your memory will remain etched in the hearts of all who knew you.
