AMARILLO, Texas – A tragic drive-by shooting on July 3, 2025, in Randall County has resulted in the death of Kristie Ann Harris, who succumbed to her injuries on July 15, 2025. The incident occurred at 11905 Double D Road near Tanglewood Drive, where Harris was shot in the head around 7:20 a.m. She was immediately transported to a local hospital, but despite medical efforts, she passed away. An autopsy has been ordered to further investigate the circumstances of her death.

The Randall County Sheriff’s Office has arrested two suspects in connection with the shooting: Anakin Kane Harrison, 21, and Jacob Mikiel McCormick. Both individuals have been booked into the Randall County Jail on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to court documents, Harrison and McCormick fired a total of 49 shots at Harris’ residence. Harrison, driving a gold 1990s Chevy Suburban, reportedly reached across the front passenger seat to fire, while McCormick discharged his weapon from the back right passenger seat. Six people were inside the home at the time of the shooting, but no one else was injured. One of the victims reported receiving multiple threats from Harrison prior to the incident.

Following the shooting, Harrison was apprehended on July 3 after an hours-long SWAT standoff at an apartment complex in the 2900 block of South Spring Street, near Oakdale Elementary. The standoff began before 1 p.m., with law enforcement, including the Randall County Sheriff’s Office, Amarillo Police Department, and Texas Department of Public Safety, deploying tear gas and using a bullhorn to call for Harrison’s surrender. He was taken into custody after nearly two hours. McCormick was arrested later, on July 8, 2025.

Investigators are actively pursuing additional charges, which will be submitted to the Randall County Criminal District Attorney’s Office for review. The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the motive and circumstances surrounding this violent incident.
