A devastating shooting in Greenville, Mississippi, has left 27-year-old Gervonte Johnson dead, with his younger brother, 21-year-old Santwan Johnson, now in custody facing murder charges.
On the evening of Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers from the Greenville Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at a residence on the 700 block of Cotton Drive. Upon arrival, authorities discovered Gervonte Johnson in the hallway of his home, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Emergency medical personnel from Delta Health Systems rushed Gervonte to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival due to the severity of his injuries.
Following an initial investigation, the Greenville Police Department arrested Santwan Johnson, the victim’s younger brother, charging him with murder.
