Man Identified in Fatal Shooting in Louisville’s Algonquin Neighborhood

A man who succumbed to injuries at a hospital after a shooting in Louisville’s Algonquin neighborhood has been identified by authorities.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed that 54-year-old Carl Jackson died of multiple gunshot wounds at approximately 6 a.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025.

Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) responded to a ShotSpotter alert around 4 a.m. in the 1600 block of Moore Court. Upon arrival, officers discovered Jackson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to UofL Hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.

On Friday evening, LMPD announced the arrest of 45-year-old Antonio Whaley in connection with the shooting. Whaley faces multiple felony charges, including murder, two counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. He is currently being held at Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.
