On Saturday, July 19, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., officers from the Los Angeles Police Department’s Rampart Division responded to a radio call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon near the intersection of Vermont Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood.

Preliminary findings indicate that a vehicle drove into a crowd of people outside a club, resulting in a significant number of injuries. The exact reason for the vehicle’s actions remains under active investigation by authorities. Early reports suggest the driver may have lost consciousness prior to the incident, though this has not been confirmed.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the driver being physically assaulted by bystanders. Further assessment revealed that the driver had sustained a gunshot wound. Paramedics from the Los Angeles Fire Department promptly transported the driver to a nearby hospital, where his condition remains undisclosed.

The incident resulted in 31 individuals being transported to local hospitals for medical evaluation and treatment. The Los Angeles Fire Department reported that the victims’ conditions ranged from critical to fair, with seven in critical condition, six in serious condition, and ten in fair condition. Seven others were assessed at the scene but declined transport.

Witnesses reported that the individual responsible for shooting the driver fled on foot, heading westbound from Vermont Avenue. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing around 180 pounds, bald, and last seen wearing a blue jersey. He is believed to be armed with a silver revolver.

The Los Angeles Police Department is actively seeking information from the public to aid in the investigation.
