Tragic Loss in Schaumburg: Ohio Woman Fatally Shot in Hotel Parking Lot, Suspect Known to Victim in Custody”

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. — A 45-year-old woman from Galena, Ohio, identified as Christine Moyer, was fatally shot in the parking lot of the Marriott Hotel at 50 North Martingale Road on Friday night, July 25, 2025. The Schaumburg Police Department described the incident as an isolated event, emphasizing that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The shooting took place around 10:15 p.m., prompting a swift response from Schaumburg police after reports of a woman suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers arrived to find Moyer, who was immediately transported to Lutheran General Hospital. Despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed her identity and cause of death.

Police took a suspect into custody at the scene without incident. Authorities have stated that Moyer and the suspect were acquainted, though the specific nature of their relationship remains undisclosed.
