Deadly Shooting at Washington Manor Apartments in Sandersville, Georgia

On Sunday night, July 27, 2025, just before midnight, the Sandersville Police Department, along with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, responded to reports of a shooting at Washington Manor Apartments, located at 700 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue in Sandersville, Georgia. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered two individuals who had been shot.
One victim, 22-year-old Jonathan Carnez Burden of Sandersville, was found deceased at the scene.

The second victim, 19-year-old Elijah Alphonso Graham, also of Sandersville, was transported to Washington County Regional Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Eastman Office has been called in to assist with the ongoing investigation.

Authorities are actively working to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting, and no suspects have been named at this time. The Sandersville Police Department and Washington County Sheriff’s Office are urging anyone with information to come forward.
