Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Simpsonville Crash Identified

GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. — A tragic incident occurred Wednesday night when a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle in Simpsonville, South Carolina.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office reported that a 911 call was received around 9:20 p.m. regarding an incident involving a pedestrian in the 1500 block of Fairview Road. First responders arrived at the scene and found a man who had been hit by a vehicle. The victim was pronounced dead at 9:28 p.m. due to blunt force injuries.

The coroner’s office identified the victim as 28-year-old Jorge Arturo Garcia-Morales, a resident of Fountain Inn. The death has been ruled an accident, and an external examination was scheduled for Thursday to further investigate the circumstances.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Greenville County Coroner’s Office are continuing their investigation to determine the details leading up to the crash.
