Mother’s Unimaginable Nightmare: 20-Year-Old Arrested in Execution-Style Killing of 13-Year-Old Boy at Pico Rivera Gas Station

Posted on August 28, 2025 by Usainsightreport

The quiet of a late Saturday night in Pico Rivera was shattered by an act of unspeakable violence, claiming the life of a 13-year-old boy who was simply waiting for his mother. In a development that has gripped a community in grief, authorities have arrested 20-year-old Andres Adan Chavez for the brutal and seemingly unprovoked murder of Saith Israel Toledo Mendez.

The tragedy unfolded just after 11:30 p.m. at a gas station on Whittier Boulevard, a place that became a crime scene in an instant. Saith had been sitting in his mother’s car while she finished her shift, a familiar routine for the devoted son. He had just stepped inside for a brief moment to speak with her before heading back out to the car. It was a simple, everyday act that would tragically be his last.

Horror in Full View
According to Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna, the nightmare began when a tan sedan pulled into the station. Chavez, seated in the back, exited the vehicle and began loitering near the pumps. As Saith walked past him, Chavez allegedly drew a firearm and, without any warning or provocation, advanced on the teenager.

In an act Sheriff Luna described as “extremely cowardly,” Chavez shot the young boy at close range. The gunfire struck Saith in the back, causing him to fall to the ground. But the violence did not stop there. The assailant then stood over the fallen 13-year-old and fired multiple additional rounds in an execution-style killing, ensuring the tragedy was absolute.

The entire attack was witnessed by Saith’s mother, Clara, who watched in horror from inside the service station—a sight no parent should ever have to see.

A Fugitive Hunt Ends in an Arrest
After the shooting, Chavez fled on foot into a nearby neighborhood, leaving a community on edge and a family shattered. The driver of the tan sedan and a female passenger remained at the scene. They were questioned by detectives and later released pending further investigation, as authorities focused their manhunt on the primary suspect.

Following an intensive investigation, that manhunt concluded with the arrest of Andres Adan Chavez. He now faces justice for a crime that has left an indelible mark on the city of Pico Rivera.

A Community United in Grief and Outrage
The killing of Saith Israel Toledo Mendez has sent shockwaves of sorrow and anger throughout the community. He is remembered not as a headline, but as a bright, loving, and vibrant child whose future was stolen in a moment of senseless brutality. His family, especially his mother Clara, is left navigating an ocean of unimaginable pain.

Sheriff Luna, speaking directly to the heart of the matter, stated the department’s dual mission with unwavering clarity: “First, to seek justice for Saith and his family. Second, to apprehend this violent individual who committed this extremely cowardly act and remove him from our streets.”

As the investigation continues to piece together the full circumstances of that terrible night, the community holds Saith’s family in its heart, a solemn reminder of the preciousness of life and the urgent need to protect it from the scourge of wanton violence.
