Lockdown Lifted at Texas City High After Hoax Threat Disrupts Friday Classes

Posted on August 29, 2025 by Usainsightreport

TEXAS CITY, Texas — A wave of anxiety swept through Texas City High School on Friday as officials enacted an immediate lockdown in response to a direct threat called in to police, ensuring the safety of every student and staff member inside until authorities gave the all-clear.

The Texas City Police Department confirmed it received a phoned-in threat targeting the high school shortly after 1:30 p.m. on Friday. In a swift and coordinated response, school administrators, in lockstep with law enforcement, moved to secure the entire campus, placing the school under a strict lockdown protocol. Classrooms were secured, and all movement within the building was halted as a standard precautionary measure.

Police officers and law enforcement personnel descended on the campus located at 2000 9th Ave North to thoroughly investigate the source and credibility of the threat. Students and teachers remained sheltered in place during the extensive search of the premises, which was conducted methodically and with urgency.

After a comprehensive investigation, the Texas City Police Department determined the threat to be a hoax. No evidence of any danger was found on the campus. The lockdown was officially lifted later that afternoon, and the school day concluded with a controlled release of students, all of whom were confirmed to be safe and unharmed.

Authorities have launched a full investigation to identify the individual responsible for making the false threat. Making a hoax threat is a serious felony offense, and law enforcement officials are pursuing all leads to hold the perpetrator accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

In a statement, Texas City ISD thanked students and staff for their calm and orderly response during the incident and commended the swift and professional actions of the Texas City Police Department, reiterating that the safety of their school community remains the absolute highest priority.
