Posted on May 5, 2025 by Usainsightreport

DOVER, Del. — A quiet Sunday morning in Dover was shattered by the sound of gunfire, prompting a swift and ongoing investigation by the Dover Police Department into a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a young man and left another injured.

According to an official press release from the department, officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving multiple reports of shots fired at approximately 1:11 a.m. on Sunday, May 4. The incident occurred in the parking lot of McGlynn’s Pub, a well-known local establishment located at 800 North State Street.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered two male victims suffering from serious gunshot wounds. The victims, later identified as 22-year-old Hassan Perry and a 21-year-old man—both residents of Dover—were found with multiple wounds to their upper bodies. The scene was immediately secured as emergency medical services arrived to render aid.

Both men were transported to Bayhealth Kent Campus for emergency treatment. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Hassan Perry succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. The second victim remains hospitalized, though no details on his current condition have been publicly released at this time.

The tragic incident has left the community in shock, especially given the young age of the victims. Friends and family of Perry are mourning the loss of a life cut short, while the city grapples with the impact of yet another act of gun violence.

Investigators from the Dover Police Department are currently pursuing all leads and have urged members of the public to come forward with any information that may assist in identifying the suspect or suspects involved. As of now, no arrests have been made and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear.

Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from the area and interviewing witnesses who were present at or near McGlynn’s Pub during the early morning hours. Police have not confirmed whether the victims were specifically targeted or if the shooting resulted from an altercation that escalated.

Dover Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Dover Police Department at (302) 736-7130. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Delaware Crime Stoppers by calling 1-800-TIP-3333 or visiting their website.

This incident marks a somber moment for the Dover community and highlights the continued need for collaborative efforts to combat gun violence in the region. More details are expected to emerge as the investigation unfolds.
