Posted on August 4, 2025 by Usainsightreport

On Thursday, August 1, 2025, 19-year-old Braylan Foster was shot and killed in Canton, Ohio. According to the Stark County Coroner’s Office, Foster was pronounced dead at 3:42 p.m. at Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital.

A 25-year-old Canton man, Deontae K. McCollum, was taken into custody later that evening, around 6 p.m., and booked into the Stark County Jail on charges of murder and felonious assault. Jail records indicate that McCollum is accused of shooting a victim multiple times, resulting in a fatality, though authorities have not officially confirmed that McCollum is directly linked to Foster’s death.

The Canton Police Department has provided limited details about the circumstances of the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing. The Stark County Coroner’s Office, through investigator Tammy Wilkes, has also declined to release further details, referring all inquiries to the Canton Police Department, which has not yet responded to requests for additional information. No specific motive or location of the shooting has been disclosed in available reports.
