A Shining Light Lost: Honoring the Life and Spirit of Scotty Bza

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the heartbreaking news of the passing of Scotty Bza—a son, a brother, a friend, and a vibrant soul whose energy touched countless lives. Scotty tragically took his own life after battling years of private pain. While our hearts are broken, we hold onto the belief that he is now at peace.

Scotty was a radiant presence in every space he entered. With a smile that could light up a room and a spirit full of life, he brought joy, laughter, and unforgettable energy to everyone around him. He was deeply loved not only by his family but also by a wide circle of friends and peers who admired his authenticity and fearless way of living.

A natural talent in extreme sports, Scotty was a well-known and much-loved figure in the skateboarding, surfing, and snowboarding communities. He lived for the adrenaline, the freedom, and the art of movement. Whether flying through the air on a board or supporting his favorite local tattoo shop, he made every moment count and inspired others to do the same.

His family—Rachael, Duncan, and Portia—are devastated by this loss. They extend their sincere thanks to the police response team, with special acknowledgment to Brad Colman, Jordan River Rains, and Tom Christmas for their compassion and support during such a difficult time.

In the wake of this tragedy, Scotty’s loved ones are asking for privacy as they grieve and begin to navigate life without him. They are also asking the community to remember Scotty for the joy and energy he brought into the world.

We hope readers will keep Scotty’s memory alive by continuing to live boldly, love fiercely, and be kind to those who may be silently struggling. His story is a reminder of how important it is to check in with one another, speak openly about mental health, and offer support without judgment.

Scotty, you were a force of nature. You were loved more than you ever knew, and you will be missed more than words can express.

Rest easy, legend.

If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health or suicidal thoughts, please reach out for help. Support is available, and you are never alone.
