FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. – The Florence County Sheriff’s Office has made a breakthrough in the tragic nightclub shooting that claimed the life of a beloved security guard and injured multiple others. Sheriff T.J. Joye announced that Brandon Cross has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the deadly incident that occurred early Sunday morning at the Qulture Bistro in the Pee Dee region.
According to Sheriff Joye, the incident unfolded when a group of individuals with a known history of conflicts with 39-year-old security guard Melvin Gibson attempted to gain entry into the nightclub. Gibson, a longtime employee and respected figure in the Florence community, reportedly recognized the group and denied them access due to prior disturbances. Joye stated that Gibson’s actions were rooted in a desire to maintain peace and ensure the safety of clubgoers.
However, the situation quickly escalated. The group allegedly left the club’s entrance, retrieved firearms from a nearby vehicle in the parking lot, and returned to the scene.
