Aurora Chiropractor Indicted on Thirteen Additional Charges of Sexual Abuse and Assault: Five Alleged Victims in Total
DuPage County, IL – June 10, 2025 — A disturbing case of alleged sexual abuse involving a suburban chiropractor continues to deepen as additional charges have been filed against Murtaza Hameed, a 46-year-old licensed chiropractor operating in Aurora, Illinois. Authorities revealed today that Hameed now faces thirteen additional criminal charges connected to three more alleged victims, bringing the total number of alleged victims to five — all males, ranging in age from pre-adolescents to adults.
The announcement was made jointly by DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Aurora Police Chief Matt Thomas, marking a significant escalation in the case that has shocked the local community.
Expanded Indictment and New Charges
Hameed, a resident of the 0-100 block of Bunting Lane in Naperville, was originally charged in May with sexually abusing two teenage boys under his professional care. The charges stemmed from allegations that surfaced earlier this year, leading to a comprehensive investigation by the DuPage County Children’s Center and Aurora Police Department.
On May 29, 2025, a DuPage County Grand Jury returned a thirteen-count indictment against Hameed that includes:
- 1 count of Criminal Sexual Assault (Class 1 Felony)
- 3 counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (Class 1 Felony)
- 8 counts of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (Class 2 Felony)
- 1 count of Attempt Criminal Sexual Assault (Class 2 Felony)
- 6 counts of Misdemeanor Battery
These new charges relate to three additional male victims who came forward following the publicity surrounding the initial arrests. According to court documents, the alleged offenses occurred over a span of nine years — from 2016 to January 2025 — and took place at Hameed’s chiropractic office located on the 3800 block of McCoy Drive in Aurora.
Initial Allegations and Denial of Pre-Trial Release
The investigation began in January 2025 when Aurora police received a report alleging that Hameed had sexually assaulted a 17-year-old patient during a chiropractic session. Authorities allege the abuse occurred on January 11, 2025, during a routine appointment.
Further inquiries uncovered a second incident allegedly occurring in 2016 involving a 16-year-old boy. Following Hameed’s arrest and subsequent public exposure, three more victims came forward, citing similar allegations of inappropriate conduct, including sexual abuse and assault, some dating back nearly a decade.
On May 12, 2025, Hameed appeared before a judge and was denied pre-trial release due to the serious nature of the allegations and the risk to public safety. However, at his arraignment on June 10, Judge Brian Telander granted the defense’s motion for pre-trial release — over the strong objection of the prosecution. Hameed has since been released under electronic monitoring, with home confinement and strict conditions prohibiting any contact with minors, other than his own children.
Law Enforcement and Prosecutorial Response
Both Berlin and Thomas emphasized the courage of the alleged victims and urged others who may have been affected to come forward.
“The courage displayed by the victims in this case to come forward is inspiring,” said State’s Attorney Robert Berlin. “I commend all the victims in this very upsetting case for their strength and conviction to stand for what is right. I strongly encourage anyone who may have had a similar experience with Dr. Hameed to reach out.”
Berlin also praised the work of Aurora Police Investigator Jennifer Hillgoth and DuPage County Investigator Dirk Ollech, along with Assistant State’s Attorney Jennifer Lindt, for their roles in advancing the investigation and bringing the new charges to light.
Chief Matt Thomas echoed Berlin’s sentiments:
“We recognize the incredible bravery it takes for victims to come forward and share their stories. Our investigators are working to create a safe and supportive environment for anyone impacted by these crimes — whether they were children or adults at the time of the abuse.”

Next Steps and Legal Reminder
Hameed is scheduled to appear in court again on July 8, 2025, before Judge Telander, where further developments in the case are expected to unfold.
Authorities stress that Hameed, like all defendants, is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. These charges represent allegations, and it is the State’s burden to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
This case has sparked renewed attention on the importance of safeguarding minors and vulnerable individuals in professional care settings and underscores the critical role of early reporting and thorough investigation.
