A tragic incident unfolded in Birmingham, Alabama, in the early hours of Wednesday, July 23, 2025, when 32-year-old Devin Wayne Hughes was found fatally shot inside a vehicle that had crashed into the front yard of a home in the 4100 block of Avenue L in Ensley.

Birmingham Police responded to the scene around 3 a.m. after being flagged down by two individuals who reported that their friend had been shot. According to authorities, Hughes and his two passengers were at a different location when an unknown assailant opened fire on their car.
