Birmingham Woman, 55, Killed in Tragic Hit-and-Run on I-65; Driver Flees

On Monday morning, a devastating hit-and-run incident occurred on Interstate 65 at the interchange with Interstate 59/20 in Birmingham, Alabama, resulting in the death of a local woman. The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Laronda Jo Pyles, a 55-year-old resident of Birmingham.

According to authorities, Pyles was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:56 a.m. The exact time of the incident remains unclear, as officials have not determined when she was struck. Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates stated that the driver responsible for the collision fled the scene and did not stop to render aid or report the incident.
