Posted on July 23, 2025 by Usainsightreport

In a devastating incident that has left a Bowie, Maryland, neighborhood in shock, 50-year-old Nicole Lanett Ward has been charged with the fatal shooting of her 53-year-old husband, Damian Gerard Ward, inside their home. The shooting occurred in the early hours of Saturday, July 19, 2025, at their residence on the 13200 block of Old Chapel Road in Prince George’s County.

According to authorities, the incident stemmed from a heated domestic dispute. Nicole Ward reportedly told police that she discovered photos and messages on her husband’s second phone, which indicated he was engaged in an extramarital affair. During the ensuing argument, she allegedly instructed Damian to “pack his bags and leave the house.” As the confrontation escalated, Nicole is said to have retrieved a .357 S&B Magnum revolver and shot her husband, resulting in his death at the scene.

Prince George’s County Police Department officers responded to a shooting report at approximately 1:45 a.m. and found Damian Ward suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite efforts by first responders, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The preliminary investigation by the Homicide Unit confirmed that Nicole Ward fired the fatal shot during the altercation.

Nicole Lanett Ward has been charged with first- and second-degree murder, along with additional related offenses. She is currently in custody at the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status. The tight-knit Bowie community, where the couple was described as friendly and well-regarded neighbors, is reeling from the tragedy. Residents recall Damian as a kind-hearted individual, making the circumstances of his death all the more shocking.
