Boynton Beach Community Stunned by Double Homicide as Police Investigate Shooting Deaths of Two Residents

Boynton Beach, FL – June 24, 2025 — A quiet Sunday morning in the Boynton Leisureville community was shattered by tragedy as police responded to a reported disturbance that would later be classified as a double homicide. The Boynton Beach Police Department (BBPD) has now identified the two victims found fatally shot inside a residence on SW 17th Street as 63-year-old Selicia Noreika and 63-year-old Freddy Bedasie, both residents of the home where the crime occurred.

Officers were dispatched to the scene just after 9:00 a.m. on June 23, 2025, following a 911 call that reported possible gunshots in the neighborhood. Upon arrival, authorities entered the home and made the grim discovery: both Noreika and Bedasie were deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. Their bodies were found within the home, and preliminary reports suggest that the violence unfolded quickly, though the precise timeline remains under investigation.

“We can confirm that both victims lived at the residence where the incident occurred,” a BBPD spokesperson said in an official statement. “Our detectives have identified one person of interest and are actively pursuing all leads. At this time, we are not releasing further information to preserve the integrity of the investigation.”

The Boynton Beach Police Department, along with forensic teams and homicide detectives, spent much of Sunday and Monday meticulously canvassing the scene and collecting evidence from the residence and surrounding area. Investigators have been speaking with neighbors, reviewing surveillance footage from nearby properties, and following up on leads that may help establish a motive or uncover the identity of the person responsible.

Though no arrests have been made, police say they are “actively pursuing a person of interest” and are working diligently to determine whether the act was targeted or potentially the result of a domestic or personal dispute. The neighborhood, known for its tight-knit, retirement-age community and relative calm, has been shaken by the news, with many residents expressing disbelief that such a violent event could unfold in their peaceful corner of Boynton Beach.

“I’ve lived here for 20 years, and nothing like this has ever happened,” said one neighbor, who asked not to be named. “Selicia and Freddy were quiet, friendly people. They kept to themselves, but they were good neighbors. It’s horrifying to think that something so tragic happened just across the street.”

In response to the incident, BBPD has increased patrols in the Leisureville community to provide reassurance to residents and deter any potential follow-up threats. Community liaisons have also been sent into the neighborhood to speak with residents, answer questions, and provide updates as new information becomes available.

Selicia Noreika and Freddy Bedasie are remembered by friends and neighbors as kindhearted individuals who shared a home and appeared to live a modest, peaceful life. Those who knew them personally are now grieving their sudden and violent loss.

As the investigation intensifies, BBPD is encouraging anyone with information related to the shooting to come forward. Tips, even those that may seem insignificant, could prove vital in piecing together the events leading up to the homicides. Individuals with information can contact the Boynton Beach Police Department at (561) 732-8116 or submit anonymous tips through Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS (8477).

No further details regarding the person of interest have been released, and police have not confirmed whether the firearm used in the shooting has been recovered. Autopsies are currently being conducted by the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the results may offer additional clarity as to the circumstances surrounding the deaths.

As the Boynton Beach community reels from this devastating loss, residents are calling for answers, closure, and justice for Selicia Noreika and Freddy Bedasie. Candlelight vigils and neighborhood meetings are being organized to honor the lives lost and bring neighbors together in a time of collective mourning.

“This is a tragedy we will not forget,” a BBPD official stated. “And we will not rest until justice is served.”
