Brave Walmart Shopper Helps Catch Suspect in Invasive Visual Recording Case

Posted on May 16, 2025 by Usainsightreport

On April 24, a disturbing incident took place at the Walmart on Highway 80 that highlights the importance of vigilance, courage, and the power of speaking up. A woman shopping in the store noticed a man behaving suspiciously—he appeared to be following her as she moved through the aisles. Her concern escalated when she caught him attempting to take inappropriate photos under her skirt using his phone.

Displaying presence of mind and immense bravery, the woman immediately pushed the man away and alerted a store employee about the incident. Thanks to her swift actions, Walmart staff quickly contacted law enforcement. Officers from the San Marcos Police Department arrived promptly at the scene and began an investigation.

Utilizing the store’s security footage, officers were able to review the events that unfolded. The video clearly showed the suspect trailing the woman throughout the store, confirming her account. The visual evidence provided crucial leads that helped law enforcement begin the process of identifying the individual involved.

Following the investigation, officers obtained a search warrant to look into the suspect’s residence. During the search, they recovered the clothing the suspect was wearing in the surveillance footage, along with the phone believed to have been used in the attempted recording. These findings cemented the case against the suspect.

On May 15, San Marcos Police arrested 49-year-old Andy Longoria of San Marcos. He has since been booked into jail and is now facing a felony charge of Invasive Visual Recording, a serious offense under Texas law.

This case serves as a sobering reminder that predatory behavior like this is not only unacceptable but also illegal. It is classified as a felony because of the grave violation it poses to a person’s privacy and sense of safety. Authorities are treating this case with the seriousness it deserves.

The San Marcos Police Department is urging anyone who believes they may have been a victim of a similar incident, or who has witnessed suspicious behavior, to come forward. Reporting these acts can prevent further harm and assist in holding perpetrators accountable.

To report a similar incident or share information that may assist law enforcement, please contact the San Marcos Police Department. Your voice matters, and your action could protect others.

Let this case be a reminder: speaking up can make a real difference. The courage of one woman not only stopped a potential repeat offense but also brought a perpetrator to justice.
