Brian McKnight’s Estranged Son Niko Dies at 32 Following Two-Year Fight with Cancer

Posted on May 30, 2025 by Usainsightreport

Niko McKnight, the estranged son of R&B singer Brian McKnight, has died at the age of 32 following a two-year battle with cancer. The news was shared by his uncle, Claude McKnight, in a heartfelt TikTok video posted on May 29, 2025.

In the video, Claude paid tribute to Niko’s talents as a singer, guitarist, and photographer, describing him as a “gifted” individual. He also acknowledged the family’s complex dynamics but emphasized love and healing over dwelling on past conflicts.

Niko publicly revealed his cancer diagnosis in January 2024, expressing hope and gratitude for the support he received, particularly from his wife. Despite some signs of improvement shared in a December 2024 update, Niko ultimately succumbed to the illness.

Brian McKnight and Niko had a publicly strained relationship. Brian previously referred to his older children as a “product of sin,” leading to public criticism. Niko and his brother, Brian Jr., are the children of Brian McKnight and his ex-wife, Julie McKnight.

In the wake of Niko’s passing, social media users have expressed condolences and criticized Brian McKnight for his estrangement from his children. The situation has sparked discussions about family dynamics and the importance of reconciliation.

Niko’s death is a tragic loss, and he is remembered for his artistic talents and the love he shared with those close to him. The McKnight family has not announced any public memorials or services at this time.
