Buffalo Police Arrest 17-Year-Old Jayden Miller in Connection with Canalside Shooting

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The Buffalo Police Department has announced the arrest of 17-year-old Jayden Miller, of Buffalo, in connection with the June 23, 2025 shooting at Canalside that left two individuals injured.

At approximately 8:00 p.m. on June 23, officers from the B District responded to reports of a shooting at the waterfront destination. Upon arrival, officers located one victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) by AMR. Shortly after, authorities were informed of a second shooting victim who had arrived at Kenmore Mercy Hospital via private vehicle. Both individuals were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives from the Gun Violence Unit quickly launched an investigation. With assistance from the Erie Crime Analysis Center, they identified Jayden Miller as the primary suspect.

On Friday, June 27, officers from the Buffalo Police SWAT Team executed a search warrant at a residence on the 1500 block of East Delavan Avenue. Miller was taken into custody without incident. During the operation, a loaded SCCY CPX-2 9mm handgun was recovered from the scene.

Jayden Miller has been formally charged with the following offenses:

  • Attempted Murder in the Second Degree (NYS Penal Law §110.125.25-2), a Class A felony
  • Two Counts of Assault in the First Degree (NYS PL §120.10-1), Class B felonies
  • Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (NYS PL §265.03-01B), a Class C felony
  • Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree (NYS PL §120.25), a Class D felony

Although Miller is a juvenile, his name has been released in accordance with New York State law due to the seriousness of the charges and the violent nature of the incident.

The Buffalo Police Department thanks the Erie Crime Analysis Center for its valuable partnership in helping to identify and locate the suspect quickly and safely.

The investigation is ongoing. Authorities encourage anyone with information related to the case or additional incidents of gun violence to contact the Buffalo Police Confidential Tip Line at (716) 847-2255.
