CHICAGO, IL — According to the Chicago Police Department, the crash happened in the 6600 block of South Ashland Avenue. Officers were dispatched to the scene around 2:13 a.m. after receiving reports of a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle. When first responders arrived, they found the woman lying unresponsive on the roadway.

CHICAGO, IL — Police stated that the victim, whose age and identity have not yet been released, was hit by a black sedan traveling northbound at a high rate of speed. Witnesses reported seeing the vehicle continue driving without stopping, leaving the victim critically injured on the pavement. The driver did not render aid or contact emergency services.

CHICAGO, IL — Paramedics from the Chicago Fire Department arrived shortly after officers secured the area. Despite immediate medical assistance, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that she sustained severe trauma to her body as a result of the impact.

CHICAGO, IL — Detectives and members of the Major Accidents Investigative Unit began examining the area for clues shortly after the incident. Investigators collected debris and surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residences, hoping to identify the vehicle involved. Police believe the sedan may have sustained noticeable front-end damage due to the high-speed collision.

CHICAGO, IL — As daylight broke over Englewood, officers cordoned off the scene for several hours to gather evidence. Traffic along South Ashland Avenue was temporarily diverted as police worked meticulously to reconstruct the sequence of events. The investigation remained active throughout the morning.

CHICAGO, IL — Residents in the neighborhood expressed deep concern over the growing number of reckless driving incidents in the area. Many described the stretch of Ashland Avenue as dangerous, particularly during late-night hours when speeding vehicles are frequently reported. Some community members have renewed calls for increased patrols and stricter traffic enforcement.

CHICAGO, IL — Police have not yet released any description of the driver or license plate information. Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information about the fleeing vehicle to come forward. Anonymous tips can be submitted through local crime reporting hotlines or directly to investigators handling the case.

CHICAGO, IL — The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of her family. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities say updates will be provided once more information becomes available in the ongoing investigation.

CHICAGO, IL — The Major Accidents Investigative Unit continues to lead the probe into the fatal hit-and-run. No arrests have been made as of Sunday afternoon. Police emphasize that every lead is being pursued to bring justice to the victim and closure to her loved ones.
