With heavy hearts, the Hardin County Sheriff’s Office announces the passing of Detective Bryan Bodine, who died on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. His unexpected departure has left a profound void in our department and the greater Hardin County community. Known for his unwavering dedication, professionalism, and compassionate service, Detective Bodine’s legacy will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.
Detective Bodine, aged 35, served Hardin County with honor and distinction for 12 years. Throughout his tenure with the Sheriff’s Office, he exemplified the essence of a true public servant—steadfast in his commitment to justice, relentless in his pursuit of truth, and deeply empathetic toward victims and families affected by crime. As an enforcement deputy, K-9 handler, and detective, Bryan demonstrated versatility and excellence, leading complex investigations and mentoring new deputies with a steady hand and a generous spirit.
Colleagues remember Bryan not only as a skilled investigator but also as a kind-hearted friend and teammate who brought integrity, humor, and humility to the workplace. His steady presence during challenging moments, calming influence in crises, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life made him a trusted figure within both law enforcement and the community. To many, he was more than just a detective—he was a protector, a confidant, and a source of strength.
Outside of work, Bryan was a devoted family man and loyal friend. He cherished his time with loved ones, often sharing stories of his family with deep pride and joy. His absence will be profoundly felt not only within the Sheriff’s Office but also across the Hardin County community, where his impact was immeasurable.
Sheriff’s Office personnel, local law enforcement agencies, and residents across Hardin County are united in grief over this tremendous loss. The Hardin County Sheriff’s Office extends special appreciation to Logan County Sheriff Randall Dodds and his staff, as well as numerous other law enforcement and first responder agencies, for their support during this difficult time.
