Elkhart Mourns the Loss of Anthony Null, Found Dead in St. Joseph River

ELKHART, IN — The city of Elkhart is grappling with the tragic loss of Anthony Null, a 50-year-old resident whose body was recovered from the St. Joseph River on Thursday, July 17, 2025. The Elkhart Police Department confirmed his identity, casting a pall over the community as questions linger about the circumstances of his death.

The discovery was made around 1:10 p.m. near the 300 block of East Beardsley Avenue, when officers responded to reports of a body in the river. The Elkhart Fire Department assisted in retrieving the remains, and the Elkhart County Homicide Unit was activated to investigate, per protocol for cases involving uncertain circumstances. Authorities have not yet released details about the cause of death or whether foul play is suspected, as the investigation remains ongoing.
