Evansville, Indiana – One Dead, Multiple Injured Following Shooting Outside Party on Taylor Avenue
Evansville, IN — June 15, 2025 — A late-night celebration in Evansville turned into a scene of violence and tragedy as gunfire erupted outside a large party, leaving one person dead and several others injured. The Evansville Police Department (EPD) is actively investigating the incident, which occurred in the 300 block of Taylor Avenue during the early hours of Sunday morning.
According to an official release from the EPD, officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired around the time the party was letting out. Dispatchers received a flurry of 911 calls from concerned citizens, many of whom reported hearing gunshots and witnessing chaos erupt in the street. Several of the callers also stated that there were multiple victims in need of medical assistance.
When officers arrived on scene, they discovered that a large gathering had taken place at the address. Witnesses reported that the event had concluded shortly before the shooting began. As partygoers were exiting the venue and gathering in the surrounding area, an unknown number of individuals opened fire, striking multiple victims. At least one individual was also reportedly struck by a vehicle amid the confusion.
Tragically, one person succumbed to their injuries. The identity of the deceased has not yet been publicly released, pending notification of next of kin. The Vanderburgh County Coroner’s Office will be handling the formal identification and autopsy.
Several others sustained injuries from either gunfire or being struck by vehicles attempting to flee the scene. Emergency Medical Services transported the wounded to local hospitals, but the extent of their injuries has not been fully disclosed. Some victims are believed to be in critical condition.
EPD investigators remained on scene for several hours, collecting evidence, interviewing witnesses, and working to piece together the sequence of events that led to the fatal shooting. Crime scene tape cordoned off the area as officers canvassed the neighborhood for surveillance footage and additional eyewitness accounts.
“Based on preliminary interviews, we know that a large party was taking place at the location,” said an EPD spokesperson. “After the party ended, and as individuals were leaving, multiple gunshots rang out in the area. We are working diligently to identify those responsible and determine what led up to this senseless act of violence.”
