Posted on July 19, 2025 by Usainsightreport

The Columbus Division of Police has identified 29-year-old Ra’Quawan Kilgore as the victim of a fatal shooting that took place early Friday morning on the city’s west side.

Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 300 block of South Guilford Avenue just before 6:00 a.m. on Friday. Upon arrival, officers found Kilgore suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries later that day at approximately 5:00 p.m.

Authorities have detained an adult female at the scene, who identified herself as the shooter. She informed officers that the shooting resulted from a confrontation with Kilgore, claiming it was an act of self-defense.

The woman’s identity has not been released, as the investigation is ongoing. Preliminary findings indicate that the incident may be linked to domestic violence. According to police, the woman stated that she fired her weapon after Kilgore allegedly threatened her.

She is cooperating with detectives, and the case remains under active investigation.

The Columbus Police Department is seeking additional information from the public. Anyone with details about the incident is encouraged to contact the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at 614-645-4730 or 614-645-2040. Anonymous tips can be submitted to Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-TIPS (8477).
