“He confessed to killing her—then buried her: Cobb County man held in girlfriend’s death”

Posted on October 15, 2025 by Usainsightreport

The days after October 9 weighed heavy and silent for the family of Tange Davis-Hutti, 45. She vanished without warning, her phone went dark, and her car was traced to a grocery store parking lot in Mableton. Before long, the man who should have protected her became the prime suspect—and has since admitted to taking her life and burying her in Atlanta.

On October 11, Cobb County police were pulled into the search when Davis-Hutti’s son contacted 911. He revealed that using OnStar technology, he had located her vehicle at the Lidl grocery store on Floyd Road—but the car sat there empty and her whereabouts were unknown. Investigators met him at the scene. Moments later, her boyfriend, Cecil McCrary, showed up, handing officers surveillance footage of Davis-Hutti leaving his home on the evening of October 9. He claimed that was the last time he saw her.

From there, the case quickly escalated. The Cobb County Police Department entered Davis-Hutti into the national missing persons database, and their Major Crimes Unit took charge. Meanwhile, friends and relatives poured into social media, posting pleas, inconsistencies, and suspicions. Many noted McCrary had failed to attend a meeting with them and raised old stories of tension in their relationship.

By Tuesday, the department issued a “Be On the Lookout” alert for Davis-Hutti. That very evening, McCrary was taken into custody for questioning. Under pressure, he confessed to murdering Davis-Hutti and admitted he had secretly buried her body on property within the City of Atlanta. Authorities from both Cobb and Atlanta responded to the location he pointed out—and there, they recovered her remains.

This was not the first time McCrary and Davis-Hutti’s relationship had drawn police attention. Records show multiple domestic violence calls over time. At the moment of the killing, McCrary was already out on pretrial release—he was charged with kidnapping and aggravated assault in connection with prior domestic violence incidents. Those earlier charges are now compounded by the homicide case.

McCrary is now held in the Cobb County Jail, facing a fresh slate of charges, including murder. The investigation continues—police are probing exactly how and why events turned fatal. For Davis-Hutti’s loved ones, the pain of waiting transformed into a grim certainty. What began as radio silence ended in the worst possible answer.
