Honoring a Hero: Sergeant Brandon Miles Remembered for 17 Years of Dedicated Service and Sacrifice

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sergeant Brandon Miles, a dedicated and courageous public servant whose unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of his community spanned over 17 remarkable years. From April 2007 until his final watch in 2025, Sergeant Miles stood as a pillar of strength, integrity, and compassion—embodying the very best of what it means to wear the badge.

Sergeant Miles began his career in law enforcement in the spring of 2007, joining the force with a clear sense of purpose and a deep desire to serve. Over the years, he built a reputation not only as a skilled officer and respected leader but also as a mentor, protector, and friend. Whether patrolling the streets, responding to emergencies, or offering a comforting word to a victim in need, Brandon approached every duty with humility, professionalism, and heart.

Those who had the privilege of serving alongside Sergeant Miles often described him as the rock of the department—calm under pressure, unwavering in the face of adversity, and always willing to go the extra mile for both his fellow officers and the citizens he swore to protect. His work was marked by selflessness and sacrifice, qualities that never went unnoticed by those who watched him quietly lead by example.

Beyond his uniform, Brandon was a devoted husband and father whose love for his family was evident in all he did. No matter the demands of the job, he always made time for the people he loved most. His strength at work was matched only by the gentleness and warmth he showed at home. To his children, he was a hero in every sense of the word—a guiding light, a storyteller, a protector, and a teacher.

Throughout his career, Sergeant Miles received numerous commendations for bravery, leadership, and community outreach. Yet he never sought recognition. For him, the true reward was making a difference—resolving conflicts, helping the vulnerable, and building trust between the police and the people they serve. He believed deeply in community policing and was instrumental in launching several youth engagement and neighborhood safety programs that continue to make a lasting impact today.

Sergeant Miles’ sudden passing leaves a void that words can scarcely fill. The pain of his loss is felt not only within his department but across the community he gave so much of his life to protect. Flags fly at half-mast, and hearts hang heavy with grief, yet his legacy of courage, integrity, and service lives on in every life he touched.

In this time of mourning, we come together to honor a life defined by service and sacrifice. We remember not just the badge, but the man behind it—the smile that could calm tension, the firm handshake that conveyed trust, and the steady presence that reassured so many during their darkest hours.

As we say goodbye to Sergeant Brandon Miles, we do so with gratitude for the years he gave, the lives he changed, and the example he set. His Final Watch may have ended, but his spirit continues to guide and inspire those who follow in his footsteps.

Rest in peace, Sergeant Miles. Your duty is done. We have the watch from here.
