The community is on high alert as law enforcement agencies comb the region for 35-year-old Matthew Brian Kidd, who is accused of fatally shooting 33-year-old Christian Storey in a deadly confrontation.
The tragedy unfolded shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Brandon police officers, responding to urgent calls from the 100 block of Gayden Street, arrived at a residence to find a grim scene: the body of Christian Storey, who was pronounced dead at the location from gunshot wounds.

In response, a multi-agency manhunt was launched, stretching through the night and into the early hours. Police have saturated the area, with increased patrols scanning neighborhoods, business districts, and vast wooded tracts. The violence has sent a wave of fear through the typically tranquil community. Residents were advised to remain indoors as law enforcement secured the perimeter, a stark reminder of the danger lurking in their midst.
